Saturday

Over to me as Alan is just off to the 7/11 shop to get a beer to watch Arsenal live at 2300hrs which is a 1500hrs kick off in UK.To clarify all writing in green is me and anything in blue is Alan, plus he is doing all the photos.

Today we tried again to go up the Patronas towers but were not lucky. We do have tickets for tomorrow morning so will be going up all 427 metres of it .Should be a good view.Chosen the morning as we are experiencing major storms late afternoon and the top of the towers are then in mist.

China town was interesting, felt a little uncomfortable and left quite quickly and went up market  for some coffee and cake.Sat chatting to a very interesting(female) vet from Afganistan who is here for a conference.Markets are not my thing.Bought a purple and sparkly bag in the night market in Chiang Mai,back at the hotel it is still purple and sparkly but also gaudy+++.My motto is whats in the market, stays in the market .Minimal shopping done just the above gaudy bag and a elephant sanctuary bag. Here the shopping is either tat or very high designer.Had planned to xmas shop but not doing well so far.

Lots of eating places and last night we had a BBQ mixed grill at an Indian place ,made a change from curries!

Leaving here middle of  next week will be hard as our accomodationis so good.Football starting soon, cant wait!!!

Heavy Storm a lot of warm rain!

Back at the camp, soaking wet,now drying out, there will not be much from me tonight,I am going to watch Arsenal play live! Whoopee, I may nip out for a bottle of beer which will be as easy to find as a slice of ham in Tel Aviv!

ANCIENT AND MODERN CHANGES IN MALASIA

CIVILISATION !

K.L could not be more different to Northern Thailand, instead of temples(Wats) we have massive skyscrapers and and a nightmare of a road system, with more cars than bees in a hive.To actually cross the road is an achievement, and to arrive in one piece is a miracle. The small spaces between cars are taken up with Mopeds by the hundred.

The town is really designed for the female of the species, park anywhere and anyhow and shops that make London look like a village, every major player is here, but it is not cheap, there are a few guys in the shops with eyes that are glazed over with imminent brain death, The buildings are brilliant, and the Petronas towers are massive and far better than the pictures, The London Shard is but a splinter in comparison.

I have discovered that tomorrow I am able to watch my footie team,Arsenal live on television, whoopee! guess who will not be going round the shops! When in Chaing Mai I found a perfect location next to the hotel at Banthai Village for a James Bond film,There was a temple next to the hotel with figures that in the dark were capable of frightening even the brave, so different from this place which is very 21st century.

Test message due tech problems

Had some problems today, just checking I will  be back later,I think the problems are now solved, and the site is now back in operation....

Arrived in KL

Hi,it is me again.Yesterday we had a really good day at the elephant sanctuary. The scenery was magnifiscent and the day was thought provoking. We really got down amongst the elephants and it was better than a safari as we had such close contact. After some tuition and safety rules we fed them and later bathed them in the river.A good day. Some sad stories about how they came to be there.

Early start today Air Asia A320-200 series(that bits for you Steve) air bus to KL.Our apartment is superb ,very large and everything in it you could want.We can cook if we want but think it will only be breakies.
We are just 5 minutes from the twin towers which has an amazing shopping centre .
Alan now knows why I said dont forget your credit card!Quite a spectacular site when we left the shopping centre as twin towers and lots of other very tall  buildings were all lit up. Think New Years Eve could be good here!

We are on 17th floor and swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, gym etc are on 18th,bit of good planning I think.
Hope the photos are ok as we had a few problems in getting them onto the laptop. So much to do here we are going to have to be selective.I am sure we will manage.Weather is hot and sticky but we had a short violent thunderstorm earlier.Bye for now.
